Term One is Underway!

Kia ora,

We are Room 14 at Fairfield School in Levin.

Our teacher is new to our school but has been teaching for a number of years.
We are a Year 7 class (14 Boys and 10 Girls). We are part of the Senior Team of the school. There are three Year 7 classes and two Year 8 classes. So far this year we have got into our Recount Writing, Spelling, Cross-group Senior Numeracy, Treaty of Waitangi Unit, Athletics Coaching, Reading, Technology at Waiopehu College and Health (Skills for Adolescence).
For Health we based our Class Treaty around the Principles of Waitangi. We learnt these Principles in a teacher led Inquiry Unit. The Principles are Protection, Partnership and Participation.

We now have only three class Rules;
We will demonstrate Respect to Ourselves and Others through the Principles:

1. Protection

2. Partnership and

3. Participation

We also found out that our school upholds the Treaty Principles by:

Having Six Key School Values
Having a Range of Cultural Groups and Activities
Learning and Teaching of Te Reo
Hosting a School Gala
Teachers that Build Relationships
Having School Rules and Routines
Being a “Family School”
Having School “Houses”
Collecting and Monitoring Achievement Results of our Māori students
Having Evacuation Plans and a “Lockdown” System
Celebrating Success
Having a Community Group
Having Parents on the Board of Trustees
Having a School Picnic
Buddy Classes

Parent Interviews/Reports and Home Books.

The List Goes On!

Our School Motto sums it up:

"Ka kotahitanga, haere whakamua - Together We Achieve'
